Depends how deep the gash is. If you run your fingernail over the gash and don't feel a depression in the paint, you can usually use rubbing compound that you find at an auto parts store to remove the mark. If the gash can be felt, this usually requires professional intervention as the scrape needs to be sanded, filled with automotive body filler, primed and painted.
Look up local shops in the area that go to you to perform repairs. Sometimes the cost to have a mobile repair tech go to you can sometimes be less than your local body shop. Read up on their history and reviews if they have any before making a decision but you can probably save yourself a few hundred bucks depending on how damaged your vehicle is.
